Macbook Pro (MA609LL) max memory?

Someone help me please! according to Apple and to Crucial the max memory this mbp of mine can take is 3gb however I have 4gb installed and it uses all 4gb and runs beautifully. I want to upgrade to 8gb, can I do that and will it work?

Check out the memory page at OWC (macsales.com), which many use as the definitive answer on RAM compatibility limits.

For several models, the useable maximum amount of RAM that OWC has tested/verified exceeds the official Apple maximum, so you maybe in luck- I was when checking on upgrades for an '07 MBP. (6GB vs 4GB).

Thanks for the help, appears 6gb is the max, so should I get a 4gb and a 2gb?

That's pretty much the only way to get 6GB, so yes.
