I just bought a 2011 17'' i7 Macbook pro it has 8gb of ram a 256 GB crucial SSD and there is another 5oogb on a hard drive . the guy took out the cd disk drive to put in the 500gb HD , what i would like to do is put in 16gb of ram a 1tb SSD and then put back my CD disk drive . This laptop is going to be for making music only !! This will be connected to a m-audio Profire 610 via (firewire 800/400 9pin/6pin cable) also my mac USB to a USB port on my 28 channel Allen and heath zed428. I would like some input if this is overkill or should I go another route , like a 512 SSD , or an external HD..Thankyou for your time..Michael

Your machine will accept 16 GB and whatever SSD you put in. I recommend a 500+ GB Samsung SSD if you need the space. I have an 840 Evo and it is fantastic.
