I just bought my MacBook Pro last week. When I power it up, it makes a loud noise for about a second and a half. I think it's the hard drive starting up or the disc drive. I'm not sure which one, but it's pretty loud, so I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this and if it is normal. Thanks in advance for the help.

are you sure its not the mac startup sound lol? is it like a melodic BONG sort of sound?

or is it a kind of churning noise (the DVD drive makes that noise).

What I did was to put in a DVD vide disc and set the region to 1 (it came as 6). After that, the noise is gone.
