I have a 17" MBP on the way right now, and I was wondering if I could get it upgraded when the new Merom(Intel Core 2 Duo) processor comes out? Would Apple upgrade it?

I don't have any experience with this, but I doubt that Apple would upgrade the computer after you've gotten it. As far as I know, the processors in the MacBook Pros are soldered in, which would be a little bit more difficult to swap out than a RAM upgrade. Maybe it will turn out that they haven't soldered the processors into the 17" MBP's and you'll be able to make the switch, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Yeah thats what i was thinking. Also I would not expect for them to do it for free. I would pay them to do it.

the 17" MBP is only 1" thick - it would be quite difficult fitting a CPU socket in there. But you should wait till june anyway, the 15" MBP is full of design bugs, the 17" will probably have its fair share.
