Hello Everyone,
It's been awhile since I've made a post here, but I have a really confounding issue that someone might be able to help with. The subject here is a stock configuration Mid 2011 MacBook Pro 15" 2.0GHz. The computer was previously owned by one of my co-workers who was pretty rough on it, although apart from a few scratches it's very presentable on the outside.
Anyways, he ended up buying a new MacBook because of this issue, and just gave me the old one to see what I could do with it. The problem here, is that sometimes, the wifi won't find any networks, and the computer only works from ethernet. Now, after a PRAM/SMC reset, it will work for one webpage load - that is, it will load the Apple Start Page when I open Safari. After this, it will just hang and won't even load Google. I've tried reinstalling Mountain Lion, and I tried to do network recovery. Even that could not find any Wireless, although I did successfully reinstall Mountain Lion through ethernet.
After reinstalling, the Wifi card seems to stay on. Before it would turn itself off after a restart. According to the internet settings, it has an assigned IP and a good connection. I've taken the bottom panel off, reseated the Airport antenna connections, and dusted out the computer. At this point in time, am I right to think it's a sporadic hardware failure? It's about a year out of warranty, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
