My MBP started to flicker green/purple. It's not consistent but happens so often it's getting very annoying.
I read it can be due to the LCD cable not being connected properly.
Weird thing is, when I press down on the left side of the laptop below the keyboard, I can make the flickering stop until I release the pressure. I read somewhere else that the problem can be due to the graphics card desoldering itself from the motherboard.
Could it be the case? Seems likely since I can avoid the problem by supplying pressure on the laptop. It's also rather old.

Any help is appreciated.

Regards

Have you connected the MBP to an external display using the MiniDisplay port ?
Does it flicker there ?
If so, you can send the main logic board to have it reflow solder to have the parts resoldered with fresh solder.

If not, the display and/or cable is going bad which you can buy a replacement screen cheap on eBay.

I just did that on a 2008 MBP 15" unibody aluminum that had a display problem. After $80, the entire display lid was replaced and works beautifully again.

Selling on eBay this weekend:
