I was given a mid 2015 MacBook Pro that needed repair where I replaced some parts, as well as the battery with one from Other World Computing. When I got the machine it was sitting for long enough that the Apple battery was fully discharged for so long it wouldn't take a charge.

Thus I have no idea of what I should expect for the battery life on this MPB which has the AMD GPU upgrade, as well as the fastest i7 that was offered at the time and maximum DRAM. In short what I'm seeing is poor battery life. Perhaps the OWC battery or maybe the machine with max RAM, fast i7 and GPU is simply a power hog. In fact when streaming video (e.g. Hulu) when plugged into the Apple power adapter (85W) the rate of battery charge is very low (e.g. the processor is sucking most of the power from the adapter).

Is it normal for this machine?

Note if so, I can absolutely see why Apple dumped Intel for an ARM based solution...

Hmmm... I should have also said I'm working outside in the sun with the display at or near max brightness.

I'm getting more than two hours on the battery, but if it is four that would be generous. I'm running around looking for somewhere to plug in most of the time. And as cited the thing pulls so much power the 85W adapter apparently isn't sufficient. In fact I looked online at Apple last night and 85W appears to be the largest adapter offered for this machine...
