I was given a mid 2015 MacBook Pro that needed repair where I replaced some parts, as well as the battery with one from Other World Computing. When I got the machine it was sitting for long enough that the Apple battery was fully discharged for so long it wouldn't take a charge.
Thus I have no idea of what I should expect for the battery life on this MPB which has the AMD GPU upgrade, as well as the fastest i7 that was offered at the time and maximum DRAM. In short what I'm seeing is poor battery life. Perhaps the OWC battery or maybe the machine with max RAM, fast i7 and GPU is simply a power hog. In fact when streaming video (e.g. Hulu) when plugged into the Apple power adapter (85W) the rate of battery charge is very low (e.g. the processor is sucking most of the power from the adapter).
Is it normal for this machine?
Note if so, I can absolutely see why Apple dumped Intel for an ARM based solution...
