For the mid 2018 MacBook pro line where the HD is solid in are there third party companies who do upgrades? Knowing the warranty will be VOID?

Upgrading the 2018 MBP internal hard drive is...
...impossible.
Can't be done.

(well, you could replace the entire motherboard...) ;)

When considering the purchase of one of these machines it is important for the customer to really know what he or she will need in terms of storage capacity BEFORE making the purchase, because once it's bought, that's it. The days of customer or third-party store swapping drives are gone. Take the time to consider exactly what current usage is now and anticipated usage with accompanying storage demands, possible external options as workarounds for adding more storage capacity, etc., etc. For instance, three years ago I was able to manage just fine with 500 GB internal SSD on my 2015 15" MBP. I used and still use external SSDs also to provide extra storage. In the past year, however, I have gotten back into photography and subsequently need more capacity on my internal drive both for working purposes and storage capacity so when I purchased my 2018 15" MBP I went with 1 TB SSD for the internal drive. I also increased my RAM (another non-replaceable item) from 16 GB to 32 GB.

I mentioned external SSDs for providing extra storage; this is the way many users handle the situation, by either purchasing and using external platter/spinner HDDs or external SSDs for archiving, backing up, or supplementary storage. This works out really well once one develops a system for the most effective and efficient use of this method.

Buy the MBP you need and can afford, and as needed, utilize external drives as well.
