I have a Macbook Pro (not the unibody, the one before) and the motherboard appears to have died even thought I bought in 2008. Went to the Apple store who ran diagnostics and quoted me £300+ to replace it. I even asked them to check the graphics to see if it might be that, (might be covered) but they said it wasn't.

So, what do I do?
Shall I spend £300+ to get it fixed?
Are there any Mac part retailers in the UK and replace it myself?
Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'm in that exact same position with the same MBP too. Mine just died when I initiated a Restart.

I would like to look for a board on eBay and install it myself, but I don't think I'm up to the task. I might wait for the new Ivy Bridge notebooks.
