Hey all!

I’m looking for ideas/opinions for a MacBook Pro for track editing and playback via Garageband and eventually Logic.

This machine will be used for editing tracks and playback only. [All actual recording will be taking place on a different Mac.]

Personal info/sob story:
I have chronic back issues and sitting at the desk with the MacPro I use for recording for extended periods is very uncomfortable.

Looking to scoot projects over to the MacBook Pro so I can lay down while editing/tweaking and whatnot.

1. Prefer a MacBook Pro with modular/replaceable parts (hard drive, battery, ram)

2. Need to be able to run Big Sur for the newest Garageband update (Not necessarily natively - can live with an Open Core set up.)

3. Don’t want to spend much more than $400-450 all in. I have 2.5” SSDs on hand, would like 16 gigs of ram and haven’t priced batteries for older MacBook Pro’s yet (not sure on model, hence this post 😁)

Does what I’m looking for exist or are the older MacBook Pro’s with easily replaceable parts too old to properly run Big Sur?

Thanks for any input!
