Macbook pro new batt- old problems

Hello-

This is my first time- please break me in gently!

I just brought a new battery for my Macbook Pro ( 15 " 2006 model ) and the thing is refusing to recognise that there is a new battery installed.

Is there some procedure I am to follow before installing this battery? I have had a new battery before on some recall of faulty batteries years ago and i seem to remember plugging in and off I went.

Can anyone advise me what the best course of action is?

Make sure the battery is seated properly. Then reset the SMC. Instructions are at the bottom of the "CHARGING" section of the following link. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:
