Hey Everyone,

I have a mid-2012 i5 Macbook Pro that had the screen suddenly go black (or a very dim black). I took the entire display LCD out, and there is still a backlight. It dims or brightens in accordance to F1 or F2 buttons.

So it isn't a back light issue. The image is just a dim gray on it, but you can see the light is working fine.

I've replaced the logic board for other reasons, and got a new LVDS cable - So it isn't those components.

Is this a setting? Or could the LCD screen go bad but still have a backlight?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone? Just looking to see if its the LCD display or another part.

Anyone know if the LCD backlight can work, but not display an image?
