Hello.

So my MacBook Pro has been working fine for the past year. Suddenly yesterday, it would no longer run. I plugged in a HDD to transfer some files, and the computer locked up. I did a hard shutdown. Now neither OS X or Ubuntu will boot up at all on my mac. When I try to boot OS X, it gets to the apple, and I hear a clicky crunchy sound coming from under the superdrive. It isn't the superdrive, as I put in an ubuntu live cd(after the dedicated install wouldn't boot), and it went in and out without a problem. Ubuntu will get to grub and allow me to pick an entry for boot, but nothing will happen afterward. And the ubuntu livecd will not boot the mac either.

Target disk mode works just fine, and tomorrow morning before school I am going to get as many of my files as I can(I don't have the correct cable to use it with the iMac in sig, but I have a friend with a Santa Rosa MBP with FW 400). Is there anything I can do, or should I just take it to apple?

I still have just under 2 years of applecare, but the glass panel in front of my screen is loose, but I see no way that this can be related. I also have a few cosmetic damages to the unibody, but this was from one fall a year ago.

Thanks
