I've just received my new macbook pro and after about 10 minutes of use it starts making a strange noise. It sounds like a an old style cinema projector or a tiny tractor. The noise isn't very loud but it bugs me non the less. It seems to be coming from under the screen, slightly to the right of center.

My macbook pro is the 15inch 2.8 model. I brought it from the refurb store so its the express card version not the latest SD card one.

Do you guys think this is normal (I couldn't find any other posts)? Should I take it to the apple store? As I say it does annoy me.

Thanks in advance for you advice.

I would call Apple and ask for a replacement. Don't let them repair it for you. You can't go to an Apple Store because it's a refurb so you are going to have to call them.
