I have the chance to buy a several-year-old 13" MAcbook Pro ("early 2011). It has 2.3 i5 dual core and HD 3000. It has 8 GB RAM and a 1 TB hard drive for $350.

Good deal? $350 worth of life left in it?

I'd definitely test it out first. But $350 is a pretty good deal if it runs well. If it still has AppleCare you could probably get them to look it over.

even if it's not working, you would be getting a great deal. $350 for a TB hard drive and 8G RAM sounds like a cheap upgrade for your next (non-retina) laptop!

Well, it's from my brother-in-law/best friend, so I'm sure it's in good working order. In fact, I am typing this on it!!

Anyway, I figure I would just wipe it somehow and start over. What is the best way to do this?

Thanks.
