Macbook Pro not recognising Apple SSD blade

Hi

I seem to be seeing more and more instances where a perfectly functional Macbook Pro or Air will not recognise an internal apple SSD blade but runs fine off an external USB Hard drive. Have any others been seeing this and are there any possible fixes. I have zapped PRAM and power manager

Any ideas would be great but I think I know the answer - replace the logic board
