Ok so i'm having a small issue with my computer... Its not turning on :)

1) If i just press on the power button i just hear the optical drive shifting and then nothing.

2) If i hold down on the power button, the optical drive starts up, the hard drive starts up, the sleep light turns on.. glows a little then faints and nothing.

The screen never turns on in either case and i never hear the start up sound

I had this problem twice already and solved it by reseting the Pram and by trying to turn it on and off a few times ( eventually it just turned on.. ) . But this time i guess that just won't do..

Anyone knows what to do? I hear this problem isn't that uncommon..

Thanks for your help

Slash,

Which MBP do you have?

Could be the dreaded Nvidia issue

Do you live near an Apple Store?

If you live near an Apple Store, make an appointment with the Genius and take it in
They can check for this issue in less than 5 minutes

If it is the Nvidia issue, they should replace your video card and logic board for free
But, it will take about 2 weeks

Yeah i could go to an Apple store but i wanted to keep it as i last resort cause i don't have Apple Care... Although if is the nvidia issue that'd Kinda work for me... they'll have to replace to replace it wont they? Since it was sold with a deffect...

Still, do you have any ideas of things i should try??

Thanks

Man... And i thought i was one of the fiew with a working video card ^^

but here's what i dont get, if its the video card, then why isnt my computer turning on normally just without video ? Cause its not turning on at all...

Not trying to scare you but I thought I had this same problem with my MBP (NVIDIA). Turned out that my Logic Board failed and a repair somewhere in the neighborhood of $700 to $900 was issued.

I hope it's not the case for me cause there's no way im paying that much..

I mean Apple is supposed to be " trust worthy " brand, at least that's what they sell cause i've had this computer for two years and already had to send it to repair THREE TIMES !! ( counting this one)

First the trackpad and keyboard crashed, then the hard drive. AND NOW THE LOGIC BOARD or VIDEO CARD??? This is ridiculous... I guess im just unlucky but you're really not supposed to get this many problems with a 2500 $ computer.

Am i right?
