MacBook Pro now crashes whenever I connect external monitor TB3

Recently my MacBook Pro (2016) has started to crash whenever I wake it up newly connected to external monitor and keyboard. I've tried connecting to different ports with same result. Any suggestions?

I'd start by resetting the SMC 🙂 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295 (look at the section for Macs without a T2)
