Macbook Pro now uses agere firewire chipset

Instead of the more robust Texas Instruments firewire chipset.

Who is making the Macbook Pros now? Quanta, Asus, MSI?

Do you think they will go back to the TI chipset when the new models come out?

Agere = Cheaper to use in manufacturing.

Have apple cheaped out there Pro users?

The Agere chipset is causing major problems for many audio interface manufacturers. It's not across the board, but for those that have issues the suggested solutions are not consistently working.

What a nightmare.
