MacBook Pro opens Word at startup

Hi all. Need some help with this. When I startup my MacBook Pro - 15" w Retina, it automatically opens MS Word. I've tried closing Word before shutdown but it keeps coming back. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? Thanks in advance. Joe

Check "System Preferences" -> "Users and Groups" -> "Login Items"

If Word is listed there, delete it by pressing the minus sign.
