macbook pro options

i'm going to buy my first macbook, and i was thinking the mbp. How much better is the 512 mb graphics vs the 256, for gaming on windows eg. gta iv? And is it worth the extra 400 bucks for the 2.66 GHz and 4 gb of memory and better graphics? Thanks!

The 256MB graphics card will work fine, unless you're wanting fantastically great looking textures, etc. The 256 just can't run games at super-high settings (maybe "medium" or "high"), although it'll still look quite decent.

Save your money, stick with the 256. You'll be fine.

thanks. So i'll stick with the mbp 15" 2.4 GHz. One more thing: Should I get the 4 GB of ram? Will that really speed things up?

Yes, the 4Gb's of RAM will affect your day-to-day performance more than the upgraded graphics. Don't buy RAM from Apple though, way overpriced. These should work fine:

I can't remember what the hard drive options are now but try to get a 7200 rpm hard drive. That really helps, when I got mine I downgraded the hard drive space from 320 to 250 because the 250 was faster. Applications launch faster and data access is faster (obviously).
