Hi all,

I am currently using a macbook pro mid 2014 with 2.6 dual core.

Currently contemplating to get either the Macbook air or pro. The air is nice slim, very mobile and I travel often. But the Macbook pro has more power. If I get the air, will it be a big improvement in performance over my current old macbook pro 2014?

I see that the Air CPU is 1.1Ghz dual core and my old macbook is 2.6. Will it instead be a performance downgrade? I have a lot of applications open at the same time, Word, Outlook, one note, whatsapp, safari and a few others.

Will it be better go for the new Pro? Thanks.

The Pro has a better thermal design, especially if you go for the 4 TB3 model. I had the 2020 MBA i5 for a week before changing to the 2020 Pro, and the Pro performs noticeably better and does not get nearly as hot. I could have 3 safari tabs (Facebook, Reddit, YouTube) and it would get uncomfortably warm on the MBA. My MBP does not have nearly as many issues.
