Rather than dishing out extra money for a new laptop, I will be reusing my 13” 2010/2011 macbook pro. I read the pros and cons between parallel and bootcamp, but I wanted to know if my assumption that parallel will be best for me is correct.

I will not be playing games or be using graphic intensive programs. I will be using windows strictly for whatever my graduate school requires (I am assuming lots of excel and powerpoint stuff with random windows programs here and there). So with that said, would parallel be better for my use, or is my macbook pro not powerful enough to run windows virtually? I don’t really know the specs of my laptop other than its an intel i5 with upgraded 8gb ram and 320gb hd(?)

Also, my cousin offered to give me her 2011 macbook air since she doesn’t use it. I think her macbook air is faster since it has i5 with 256gb ssd. Will the macbook air have enough juice to run windows or should I stick with the macbook pro since it has more ram? Thanks!
