Does anyone have any ideas on transfering video from this older macbook to a newer laptop? As you might know, firewire/rocketfish etc was discontinued in 2012. So I'm trying to figure out a way to feed my video footage (have a commercial grade video camera) from the macbook to another laptop after I'm done editing on the older mac...

You can just move the files over WiFi or old MBP Ethernet to new MBP WiFi.

If you want software to keep it in order. Say the transfer fails part way. I use Freefilesync. That way it can scan the sync folders and just move the missing content. Plus you may setup complex syncs. Between multiple sources and destinations. Plus setup exclusion rules and ignore errors.

Thank you. To complicate matters, the older Mac appears to be habing trouble getting online with earthernet. Constant message "unsupported browser" keeps appearing.

That's just that the web browser is too old for most websites. It sounds like you are connecting. All you really need is to enable file sharing on the old computer and have it connected to the network. As long as you can connect to the shares of the old computer with the new computer. You can run the file sync from the new one.

Ty. My pc has asked me to dowmload either chrome, foxfire etc etc. Have done that, but tben the program is no where to be found (that I can see).
