Macbook Pro Output 4k

Hey Guys,

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro and Apples thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. I just got a 4k 55" Samsung Television. My question is if my mac is capable of outputting 4k resolution, when I connect it my only option is to output 1080p at 60 hz or lower. Any help would greatly be appreciated

I couldn't even get a rmbp (2013) to output 4k at any frequency.
