macbook pro output keeps changing

i am a dj. i do video mixing at club i work at. I am trying to keep my output to 720, but it keeps goin back to hi def, causing my laptop to work slower.

any suggestions on how to keep my output at 720??

i use a mini display cable to hdmi and hookup to a projector
