Hi - I have a Panasonic Viera and Panasonic surround system. I used an HDMI cable to link them so that I can control the whole system (all components turn off and on, volume control is synched, etc) with the TV remote.

I managed to connect my new macbook pro to the tv with a second HDMI cable. Screen looks pretty good. (In fact I'm using it now!) It seems to cause some issues, however with the link and the ability to use one remote.

I can get sound from my computer through the surround system, but single remote control doesn't work any more. Any solutions (aside from using two remotes)?

no. viera link is proprietary. you can try a harmony remote if you want a single remote.
