Gday

i tried to upgrade my 1.83gz 15"macbook pro to OSX 10.4.8 and there was an error in installation. My computer restarted but then tells me to shut down as there is a Panic kernel. Iv been told this is to do with the driver? I did an Apple hardware test and it came up with error code: 4MOT/1/40000002 : Left_middle_front ????

Can anyone help me?

That hardware test error means that there is a failure or some other problem in one of your MacBook Pro's fans (the left fan). You'll want to contact Apple about getting that fan replaced. As to why it caused your installation to fail, I'm not sure -- maybe something overheated.

It is still covered by warranty or do you have AppleCare?

Thanks heaps for the reply. Yeah Im under Apple Care, il take it into my Apple man tomorrow. The macbooks spent more time with him than me in the last six months. Thanks again
