Hi guys
I'm wondering how the black 'thing' below the MacBook Pro logo is called (see image) because since a short period of time it loosened and makes squeaky noises when touching it or tilting the screen
I want to search the net what I can do about it, but that's a little bit impossible without a name for it...
Your help is much is appreciated

Lorenz

It's the only part of the computer made of plastic - take a guess.

It's the Airport card. WiFi reception is significantly attenuated by metals such as aluminum, so they made that little bit out of plastic. Yes, it's a less than ideal solution.

Aren't the antenna's in the screen behind the black borders/frame?

Come on... AirPort card... is on the motherboard. If you think WiFI antenna you are also at least partially wrong, antennae cables go through the hinge but the antennae itself are in the display assembly. (it's covered with glass)

yes.

Thank you that's the only thing I needed to know:)
Anytime!

I understand they have to be covered by plastic, but that doesn't take a way that first it felt solid and all of a sudden I can push it a bit down, it makes the macbook look cheap... Thanks for the input though!

It's official name is "clutch cover".

If it squeaks - it's possible to slide it along a little bit to stop it rubbing :). Unless it's cracked you don't need to buy a new one.

You most likely are right here, I still remember My old Pismo, it has a similar plastic cover and when not attached right it scrapes against other parts, problem was it wasn't easy to do it right since the inverter was under it.

You have got to be kidding me!:) Wow, this made my day, it solved the problems in 1, 2, 3.
Thanks!

Oh I'm wrong, it didn't take away the fact that I can push it down a little bit.
It's stopped creaking though when opening the display, that's a start :) thanks

Because I actually realized it didn't help a bit...:) got too excited for a moment
Could I bring my mbp to the apple store for this or would they just laugh in my face?
