Hey, my Macbook Pro M1 plays message notifications even when it's in sleep mode.

I set my Apple Watch to sleep mode and it activates this on all my devices.

Great.

Except halfway through the night I get a big, fat WhatsApp message notification from the Macbook on my hotel desk.

Apple have bored us to tears with talk of their device-synced focus modes (one of the only features worth mentioning in iOS 15).

But these features are worthless to me - as they fail in the most vile, unpleasant, antisocial manner.

Yes, I can (and will) set my volume to zero before I sleep.

But I shouldn't have to.

Any tips?

If Power Nap is on, you could try turning it off:

What Power Nap does:

Another possibility might be to Quit WhatsApp. If it's not running, it probably can't send notifications.

This assumes there isn't a background agent (Launch Agent or Launch Daemon) that handles notifications for WhatsApp. I don't have WhatsApp, so I have no way to check this.

Open system preferences, click on 'Battery' and turn off 'Wake for Network access'.

This should fix it for you.

Thanks, I'm going to try the 'Wake for Network Access' box first.

I'll give your suggestions a go if that doesn't work.

I’ve had the same issue lately with Discord notifications. When Sleep Focus first came to the mac, I swear it kept my computer silent at night. It’s just in the past week or so that I’ve had to start turning off my speakers every night again, which is really frustrating!
