I have a CalDigit TB3+ Docking Station and the second series of the LG Ultrafine 5K Monitor. When I connect each of these items individually to my i9 16" MacBook Pro I get the following power supply readings from System Information:
  • LG Ultrafine - 94W
  • TB3+ - 85W
When I connect both items the supplied power is only 85W.

Why is this, as I thought the MacBook would take the power source with the greatest wattage?

have you refreshed the system information? mac should always take the higher wattage.
I used caldigit's ts3 plus and it works fine even with apple charger.

by the way, for your information, to refresh the system information page, you can press on "command" key and R key all together. it will update to the latest information.

Yes - I did do that before - I have just refreshed System Information - now it is showing 87W (I updated the TS3 Plus firmware recently). The LG 5K Monitor is also directly attached to my MBP. Individually, System Info shows 95W from this source.
