Which one is a better machine, and why? Both 2.4Ghz. Can get them for exactly the same price. MBP is July 2008, MB is Dec 2008.

The MacBook Pro is a "better" machine, but the unibody MacBook is more durable.

macbook pro (prev. gen) = integrated firewire 400 + firewire 800 + matte screen

unibody = slicker, thinner, flashier, sometimes faster (ddr3 memory)

Why is the unibody more durable? Is the old MBP not made of aluminium?

How does the old MBP screen compare with the uni MB screen? They are both LED, right?

The unibody one have a very thick aluminum construction.

The aluminum on the unibody macbook pro is durable it's made of the same aluminum has the one we use for downhill mountain bicycle frames.

The old ones bend like a cocacola can.

Just bought a refurb'd 2.4ghz MBP and I love it....even the glossy does not bother me. It is a big laptop so if you are needing "portability" I would probably suggest the MB. The bigger screen on the MBP is worth it....and better quality from what I heard.

In my opinion i would have to say the unibody for two simple reasons...the keyboard because the keys are spaced and for a man with big hands thats more comforable the the old keyboards and i would say the placement of the super drive. I hated the front loadi g drive because when you had to load a disk while on your lap you would have to lift it up and all that. And when you burned a disk you would have to worry about when its done for fear the disk would pop and jam againt you and mess up the drive
