my friends girlfriend accidentally installed yahoo messenger in the start up disk file instead of the applications folder and now when u try and start it up it says there is no hard drive what can he do

Hmm... bring it to apple. Probably the boot loader got damaged, and it should be fixed properly.

Also, what the hell did they do with the MBP to make a program install in the boot partition? That's not even mounted normally...
