So I'm considering buying a 2012 MacBook Pro that's been upgraded to 16GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. It's under the first yeat warranty until July 2017 and I can add 3 years of applecare in that time but I'm not sure if 1575.00 is too much. Any advice?

I take it this is a 15"?
It's listed as new and only opened to upgrade. I'be heard rumors that apple is phasing out these models as they're the last that can be upgraded by users this way without voiding any warranty.
