Hi.

I bought a penryn 17" (2.5ghz/250gb) MacBook Pro in April, and one month later the rectangular trackpad appeared to have slight aluminum-like redness on the left and ride sides of the trackpad.. but the top, bottom, and center are all silver. Has anyone experienced this before? Is this common? How do I fix it? I have never even taken my MacBook Pro outside, nor have used greasy hands on it. I have taken good care of it.. I didn't care about the problem at first because it didn't really bother me, but now that I am planning to sell it I think it may hurt the sale a bit.

Thanks for your help.

You should wash your hands after committing a crime. :D

j/k. It could be rust or just ink?

Try a little Isopropyl Alcohol on a clean cloth or soft paper towel and see if it comes off.

I don't have a digital camera at the moment. I have my iPhone but it won't take a clear enough picture for you to see it. I'll see what I can do and post it up here. It seems as if some of the silver coloring came off but its not that prominent. Was curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Do you have a picture?
