They work better? I already have the display port cables.
You have already decided to spend money, since you are buying the adapters. Having decided that, why would you introduce another failure point with an adapter, vs just using the proper cable in the first place?

Everything can fail. I've had a MiniDisplayPort-to-DisplayPort adapter fail recently - it caused frequent signal dropouts. By using a straight mDP-to-DP cable, you have one point of failure as far as the connection is concerned. By using an adapter and a cable, you have two points of failure.
