Hey!
I have an annoying problem with my MacBook Pro Retina 15" mid 2015 machine. I am using the version without a discrete GPU, therefore I use the Intel Iris Chip on the CPU.
Since Yosemite the machine has this weird phenomenon that under some circumstances the graphics become laggy. It'll look like this
(Video is not made by me)
These are the different things that will cause this bug in 8/10 times:
– Mac goes into hibernation mode. After waking it up it'll lag
– Mac goes into sleep mode while being connected to an external display (via HDMI)
– External display (via HDMI) is being disconnected. After pulling the plug the lagging begins.
I used the Intel Power Gadget to go deeper in analysis and found out this:
– Usually the GPU clock is @ 0,75 Ghz. Whenever this lag occurs the GPU clock is stock @ 0,2 Ghz. That's why it's lagging I guess?
– Interestingly when I push the GPU via playing a video game or watching a movie (Netflix, YouTube), the Clock drops up to 0,6 or even higher. Whenever I close the graphic intense application it'll bounce back to 0,2 Ghz and everything is laggy as hell.
I have to say I really don't want to do a clean install. I asked this on many boards and nobody was able to help me. PRAM and SMC reset have been done. I really don't know what to do anymore.
Is there anyone who has some thoughts on this?
Thanks! I am really desperate. It's annoying as hell restarting the machine 4 times a day because of this...
