Need help as I am not sure if I need to buy another mac - I wanted to know if I can edit in 4k using proxy files with my current mac book pro - I shall be editing with Adobe Premiere pro CC software.

My Macbook pro specs are:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)

Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory : 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Chipset Model: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB

I am also using MacOS High Sierra 10.136 currently

Display Type: Built-In Retina LCD and Resolution: 2880 x 1800 Retina

I know I shall need to buy and external 4k monitor , so any advice on this monitor would be great too .

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what proxy files are, but I have edited 4K footage on a 15" MacBook Pro retina in Adobe Premiere. I am not a very serious video editor, but I had no problems doing it.
