MacBook Pro Retina (Late 2013) - 4K 60Hz on Mini DisplayPort to HDMI possible?

I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

I bought a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor (as I understand the built-in HDMI port only supports 4K at 30Hz) and I plugged in my MacBook Pro to my LG B7 OLED with a premium certified HDMI cable (which supports 4K) and I can still only achieve 4K at 30Hz.

Can anyone help?

Your device should support 2160p60. The Iris Pro 5200 chipset in those machines supports 2160p60 over DisplayPort only. Since it's ThunderBolt 2, you're either on DP 1.2 or 1.2a, both of which support the proper resolution. You also said you're using high-speed rated HDMI cables, so you should be good there. Does the mDP to HDMI adaptor you purchased explicitly state HDMI 2.0 support? Earlier versions don't have the bandwidth for 2160p60

It depends if it’s 13” or 15” model. The Iris Pro or GT750M in the 15” of that era can run 2160p60 over DisplayPort (not sure about HDMI even with adapter).
The regular Iris graphics in the 13” cannot drive 4k60.

Oops, thank you for the catch on that! The Iris 5100 GPU in the 13" supports up to 3200x2000@60Hz over DP so, yeah, if it's a 13" @Patcell is correct that it's unable to drive a 2160p60 display.
