I met with a apple genius today, and my rMBP has that ghosting effect.
The specialist told me it'd take 3-5 days to replace the screen, but I told him I'd rather have them ship it to my house instead of me picking it up. I was wondering does apple change the battery for me? I requested that me a new battery he put a note and said he isn't sure if they will change that as well.

Anyone had any similar experiences?

I think it depends on the situation regarding the battery. Is your battery defective and, therefore, you have a valid reason for a new battery? Or are you just hoping that you get a new battery for free?

Simply working from memory since I didn't capture the link, I believe the glue that holds the battery causes it to be damaged when performing the operation outlined. Therefore they replace the assembly. Either way you'll be fine since its a warranty repair.

I bought AppleCare for mine for its three years of coverage. After reading how expensive retina models are to repair AppleCare is a bargain.
