Hi,
I'm going to upgrade my existing MBP 13" to a brand new MBP 15". This is mainly due to the dedicated graphics card, as I'm producing videomapping and multimedia performances.
My idea was to get the MBP and immediately swop the HD for an SSD (since I had it on this last computer, don't want anything else!). But then Apple did it again... And the new retina one was announced!
My question here is which will be the one serving me the best? I don't need the full resolution of the retina display, but do enjoy the multiple video/display outputs (for multi projectors performances, which I could also get if using a Matrox Triplehead2go with the regular MBP); but I also realize the limitation on not being possible to upgrade any hardware in it. Read some comments on the flash drive not being as fast as a normal SSD; is this real?
On the other hand, the new MBP 2012 (regular) is the computer we all know, with all its potentiality. And when installing the SSD, it allows me to have 2 internal hard drives (removing the optical drive, keeping it as an external one).
So the question goes:
MBP Retina 2.3GHz 8GB Ram VS. MBP 15" 2.6GHz 8GB Ram with Samsung 256SSD??
Let me know your opinion, and why you think so please.
Thanks in advance §
