I have an old MacBook pro that I'm finally getting around to updating, and I'm having problems getting snow leopard to install on it. I've tried searching online for an answer and still can't seem to fix it. Please help me! Also, this is the first time I've ever posted on here so I apologize in advance if I'm doing something wrong.

Here's the issue: I'm trying to install Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro with the following specs:

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP41.00C1.B03
SMC Version (system): 1.27f3

(Sorry if that info is all unnecessary, I don't exactly know what is important and what isn't). Also, it's running 10.5.8 right now.

I'm attempting to install Snow Leopard through an external disk reader (the one on my computer is broken). The computer reads the disk fine and begins the install with no issues, but it will make it about 15 minutes in to the install w/ 45 minutes remaining on the install time, then just reboot. It does this every time. After it reboots, it still shows version 10.5.8 under "about this mac."

I have no idea what could be causing this, and couldn't find anything on google or other forums. I would really appreciate any suggestions you could give me!
