I am using an Atlona AT-DP200 DVI-to-Mini DisplayPort converter for running a Mac 24 inch LED Cinema Display with a 2007 MacBook Pro. Laptop gets very hot, fan seems to be overworked. The Cinema Display works great. How hot is too hot for a MBPro laptop and will I permanently damage my computer with this converter? Suggestions for cooling?

Use iStat Pro and report the fan speed(s) and temperatures, otherwise it is really a guessing game.

Temperatures of up to 80°C are normal, if they are higher that is okay too, unless they stay there for days.
