I'm extremely pleased that the chips on the new logic board on my MacBook Pro are running a lot lot cooler than the original.

Before, I had average temperatures of 60'C (CPU) when idle and all the other temperatures reported were very high. This meant the fans were always about to kick in, so very noisy most of the time.

Now, my temperatures average at 46'C (CPU) and all other temperatures are a lot lot cooler. The base of the laptop stays really cool, where it would previously get really hot. I encoded some video, and the fans went up to 3500rpm and no higher while the CPU temperature was kept around 73'C. I have done a lot of CPU intensive tasks so far, and haven't heard the fans at all.

I can also feel hot air coming out of the exhaust now. Previously, when the fans were running at 6000rpm (and making a racket) I couldn't feel any air flow. I'm curious to know if the fans were maybe clogged up with crud (cigarette smoke etc) and wasn't cooling the chips properly. Either that or this new logic board, the thermal paste has been applied correctly.

I'm happy that I can now use my Mac and surf the net without the fans creeping over 4000rpm! Happy days..
