I have a macbook pro whose casing and monitor has slowly fell apart till the screen was totaly disconnected from the body and having only wires holding it to the body... well finally it fell and the screen is dead. I cannot tell if there is worse problems... it seems to turn on, however I can't tell anything further. I tried plugging a dvi to vga cable to a tv but i got no signal i'm not sure if I have to do something to get the computer to recognize it...

could i at least access the hard drive from a different computer? I at least want to recover my data from it...

please let me know what i can do with it...
thanks

further details

its the last mac book pro design before they went to unibody with the black screen border... if that helps...

Try firewire disk mode. You should be access your harddrive on new computer to transfer your account or clone your harddrive.
