MacBook Pro screen dead?

Hi,
I have a 2018 15' mbp and out of the sudden the screen stopped working (see attached photos). When I close the lid it kind of works but it's obviously impossible to use.

I tried resetting the SMC but that did't help. Anything else I could try before considering a hardware reparation?

Yup, that looks like a flexgate issue. I have a similar problem on 2016 15”. Screen goes dead past about 50° angle.
