Hey, I just got my Macbook Pro a few days ago and I've noticed that sometimes, the screen dims a bit and then after a short while (like 10 seconds or so), goes back to the normal brightness. This happens randomly, when I'm typing and even when I'm not touching the it. As I've been using my Macbook Pro to surf the Internet and type up my homework, this is quite annoying and disturbing. Have any of you encountered this problem with your Macs? Any suggestions as to how I can solve this little problem? :)

Thanks,
Jonathan

Try unchecking "Automatically adjust brightness..." in System Preferences >> Displays.

Sounds like the ambient light sensor. If you move your hands over the speakers it will dim. When I first got my MBP I was caught a little off guard by this too.

Yeah, it's a bit annoying. Just turn off the ambient light sensor under sys pref.

Yeah, thanks, I turned the sensor off. I didn't even know the MBP automatically adjusted to liht. Prety cool. (although I can't think of much use for it...)

Thanks for the help!
