Hi there,

So yeah, my trusty 15" MBP from early 2008 is still doing it's service, cranked up with an SSD and maxed out RAM, switched out GPU, cannot complain!

...Well couldn't, until just an hour ago.

I'd like to what is going on and what could lead to this. The LED-backlit TFT is giving weird bottom lines, haven't seen this so far.

PRAM/SMC reset had no impact.

Looks like the backlight is going wonky.

Well, time to go figure out how to repair this.

Okay. There it is.

Well, that was fast.

Hah. Fixed it. I don't know why it didn't work after rebooting twice for the PRAM SMC switch but Shift-Control and Eject turns off the display. After waking up the machine the lines are gone. Let's hope this isn't a temporary fix.
