A couple of days ago I noticed a very fine but visible scratch on he screen of my macbook pro. I cherish my laptop, it is in a speck case. I also always close it to make sure my small cat doesn't scratches the screen. Anyways I have no Idea how I got the fine scratch, but it bothered me a lot. I did a lot of search online to find a solution. Some guys recommended toothpaste etc. I was just not really ready to put toothpaste on the screen. I found a video on youtube where I guy suggested to use an eraser to remove the scratch. He said a regular pencil that has an eraser is fine, but the eraser has to be fine. So I tried it. I cleaned the eraser and rubbed the scratch with it. Believe it or not the scratch was gone with seconds. I couldn't be happier. Obviously it only works on fine scratched not deep ones, but it works. The scratch was visible with white backgrounds because it made this rainbow effect. Now it is totally gone !!!

Thanks for the great post. I might try this on my iPhone 3GS.....

I'm a bit stunned, but this definitely helped! While the scratches didn't go away (maybe mine are too deep?), they are much less noticeable and don'e reflect as much light now. Maybe the eraser cleans out the accumulated dirt? For the record, my is the anti-glare screen on a 15" mid-2010 MBP.

Anyway, good tip. The eraser I used is the rubber kind you find on a pencil, not an ink eraser.

Macbook Pro screen hairline scratch removal

Amazing results after using regular eraser for removing scratched. I tried all type of light solvents but the scratch would not go. The scratch was deep enough to be felt with a nail. The eraser worked miraculously well. Do not use eraser with emery (sand). Use a soft one and do not rub it too much and too hard, as soon as the scratch seems removed, stop and clean with microfiber cloth.

Enjoy your Macbook without scratches. However, you may scratch your head after using eraser on screen. LOL :apple:
