MacBook Pro screen has alien green artifacts

I'm posting this issue on behalf of a friend. His MBP recently had the screen turn bright green on the edges. It's not something I've seen before. It seems like a hardware issue but the pattern is just quite strange. Does anyone have similar experiences?

I'm not sure why the image is rotated. I'm uploading from an iOS device.

he dun spilt on it, my friend spilt coke and this happened
